Hello,
I made a really quick video reading a lesson from Assimil. I would like to have some comments about my Spanish pronunciation since I always had difficulties in this area since childhood (even on my native language). I want to improve it to a decent level before i get bad habits. You know the old saying:'bad habits die hard'. pronunciation practice #2 Feel for to comments, negatively or positively, or/and to give me advices. The most obvious would be your pronunciation of the double "r"s and final "r"s.
But leave that aside for a bit. More important is how you're reading the dialog overall. I would go back and concentrate on each individual phrase of the dialog. Do you have access to the audio that comes with the Assimil course? Listen to the cadence of each phrase and sentence. Pay close attention to where the stress falls in each phrase. Then imitate it as best you can. And go slow. Repeat often. When you read, don't concentrate on each syllable, concentrate on the whole phrase. Ok, so basically:
1- I have to practice my R and RR. That was my biggest problem in my childhood. I had to go 3 times a week to see a speech therapist to learn how to pronounce my 'r'. I will pay attention to that. 2- I need to practice my rhythm and put my stress. I have the audio so I will listen as you said to the whole sentence instead of each syllable. I guess I sound like a robot or a text to speech program. Thank you for your advice, I will probably make another video in a few week to compare. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||||||||

1. If the word ends with a vowel, n, or s, the stress is placed on the second to last syllable. (ComIda, hIjos)
2. If not, then the stress is placed on the last syllable. (Comer, buscar) 3. If there is an accent mark, that overrides the previous two rules. (Cúpula, está, ésta) 4.The "H" sound is pronounced when the "g" is followed by "i" and "e". For example, "gente" Your accent is ok, especially if you just started learning Spanish. Good luck!

Thank you for your input. I didn't know about the 'g' sound. I started Spanish 7 to 8 week ago only using LingQ. So, I did a lot of reading and listening but not really anything else. I don't care that much for accent as long as people understand me. That why I concentrate my effort on pronunciation. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||||||||
