Я изучал Assimil 23 сегодня

Я пересмотрел Pimsleur 1-11. Я на Pimsleur 22

я не знаю почему несколько слова заканчивают с 'ом' как в:

Я люблю заниматься спортом

вы можете помочь мне? Большое спасибо

Меняется падеж слова:
Спорт помогает поддерживать форму (nominative).
Я люблю заниматься спортом (instrumental).

Я тоже люблю заниматься спортом.

The key word is заниматься, to engage in, to practise, to occupy oneself. Any object it takes will always be in instrumental case. Here, sport takes the role of the instrument or method which describes the action of engaging in.

It's not totally obvious but I'm sure you will pick it up fast! Here are some more examples.

Other verbs that work the same way include интересоваться (to be interested in), and служить (to serve [as]).

There's another useful related word: занятый (busy). Я занят - I'm busy!

You guys are wonderful - really

Chokofingrz, Via Diva, do you know any resource that shows a verb x applied case ?

It seems I wont be able to use basic portuguese grammar notion with russian...

When I think: ok, thats a direct object, so I will use accusative - I'm wrong.

So if something like that ever exist, it would be extremely helpful for anyone learning
the language.

Cristianoo, you are perfectly correct to use accusative for the direct objects of transitive verbs!

This заниматься is a different thing because it's intransitive (indicated by the suffix ся). It will tell you in the dictionary that the instrumental case follows.

The syntax here is not as simple as the English phrase "I do sport".
Think more along the lines of "I am occupied. With what? With sport".

I don't explain it that well but this video gives a thorough overview of the common instrumental verbs (first 4 minutes are enough).
