My primary text for learning Latin is Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata by Hans Orberg. I am also using Praxis Grammatica by John Harmar on the kindle app for my phone. Praxis is a 17th century textbook consisting of 600 Latin sentences with English translation, and I'm doing 5 sentences at a time.
Tue 24 Jun 2014 - Finished the pensa and exercitia for chapter one of Familia Romana (the first volume of Lingua Latina). Sentences 1-5 of the Praxis.

Finished all the pensa and exercitia for chapter 2 of Familia Romana. Up to sentence 10 in
Praxis. I am doing these from English to Latin - harder, but a better way to learn I suppose.

Lingua Latina is a nice book. I never heard of Praxis Grammatica but it sounds good also.
You might like the Orbis Pictus ebook, of a 17th century century parallel text:

There was an audiobook of it on Latinum as well. I'm not sure if it's still available.

All finished in chapter 3 of Familia Romana and sentence 20 of Praxis. Here's a couple samples
from Praxis:
We were at your house - Nos eramus domi vestrae
You were at our house - Vos eratis domi nostrae

Finished chapters 4 and 5 of Familia Romana. From now on I am going to use this book as a reader
and Wheelock's will be my textbook. I want word lists and paradigms. I will also use Dale Grote's
Comprehensive Guide to Wheelock's Latin and there are a couple of websites that have quizzes for
Wheelock's.

Reread the first three chapters of Familia Romana with review of grammar and vocabulary in
College Companion.
Completed chapter two of Wheelock's with online quizzes.
I feel like I'm getting the best of everything - reading and grammar - by using Wheelock and Orberg.
