Hello.
This is my first language log in this forum.
Recently I just started to log all of my language learning progress.
I decided to post my progress here, so I can get advice from other people.
But I hope by posting my progress here, it will inspire others and keeping myself motivated.
I speak Indonesian (Native), English, and Mandarin.
I study Korean and Spanish.
Currently I focus in Korean
To be honest, I never study English properly, especially the grammar point. So if I make any grammar mistakes, your correction is welcome!
In my country, the only language recognized by the government is Indonesian. The status of English is not as a second language, but as a foreign language. But English is the most studied language here, followed by Mandarin Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, etc.
KOREAN
I'm Currently on :
- 6 Week Challenge
- Super Challenge 2014-2015
I will update in this thread too
My short-term goal (the end of September) :
- Writing one paragraph essay in Korean about daily life
- Success to memorize 500 Korean Most Common Verb
What I do to learn the language :
- Currently I use grammar book published by Darakwon
- Sometimes I study from TTMIK website, but I treat TTMIK for a review and complement from what I had learn from Darakwon book
- Listen to native speech in normal speed (I got mp3 cd from the book, what I like from the cd is the speed of speech is normal, not in slow mode)
- Memorizing using SRS and traditional method, what I mean by traditional method is writing 20-30 words in a piece of paper and try to memorize the meaning, after a hour, try to recall the answer and write in a piece of paper that had prepared before. I doing it vice-versa, Korean to English and English to Korean.
SPANISH
I do not set a specific goal for Spanish, because my focus is Korean.
What I do to learn the language :
- I have a resource book to learn Spanish : (1). Open Door to Spanish by Margarita Madrigal, and (2). Spanish in a Week by Shirley Baldwin and Sarah Boas
- Duolingo
- Watching YouTube Video about basic Spanish.
ENGLISH
Long-term goal : Be able to fully understand when listen to English TV-Show, like Nat*onal Ge*graphic, etc.
What I do to learn the language :
- Memorize new vocabulary, especially the advanced level
- Trying to write in English and get correction from the native speaker.
I will post my log in daily basis.

Salam kenal! Selemat datang di HTLAL. :-)
What an interesting pair of languages - Korean and Spanish! I'm curious, what brought you
to study them?
I'm studying a little Indonesian myself (on and off), so it's wonderful to have you here.
Your English is great by the way.

Halo juga! Salam kenal dari Indonesia! :)
I study Korean for future work/business plan and Spanish is more likely as a recreation. Because sometimes I need a break to avoid boredom. But, as I stated above, I focus in Korean.
Before I make a decision to study Spanish, I did a research and I found that Spanish has many native speakers after English and Mandarin.
Yeah, I just looked at your log. Learn Indonesia will be very useful if you have plan to visit Indonesia.
Thank you, but I think that I still need to learn more grammar rules for a better writing :)
