Hello all. Hope you can help. Trying to recall the title of a book on the history of language. Often referred to as a 'primer' of sorts. I had the softcover edition but I believe the book was written sometime in the fifties or sixties.
I saw an article somewhere in my search for a good home study method and I came upon a short bit referencing this book.
It was brilliant--too bad it had to go back and then I was off on vacation and forgot about it. I believe it began with a history of early language and then a chapter or two on logography. I was just beginning to understand some of the Chinese symbols used in the examples when the book was due to be returned.
A pity I forgot the title and a shame our library system doesn't keep detailed patron records.
A shot in the dark, but a shot nonetheless.
Thanks in advance

Could it be "The Loom of Language"?
