As I was watching "Project Runway" from the US cable network Bravo, I noticed that Heidi Klum speaks excellent English and her pronunciation, although accented, is pretty good. Sometimes, she can almost have an American accent. One of the judges, Nina Garcia, an editor for Elle Magazine, also speaks English fluently. She is a native of Colombia and attended college in the US. She hardly has an accent when she speaks English. There have also been some contestants like Malan and Ully(?) who speak English fluently as second languages. Ully is from Germany.
I've also seen a Korean model who spoke English fluently and fluidly, almost native-like, after having spent only a few years in the US. This reminded me of Kimora Lee, a model, who is reported to be fluent in French and Italian in addition to her native tongue of English. There's a lot of international travel involved in the world of fashion, so it should be no surprise that there would be polyglots in that field. Designers, buyers, models, etc. I'm sure you could find plenty of multilingual individuals in this field. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

In this interview(in French)with Bernard Pivot (the guy whose program, "Apostrophes" was the inspiraton for "inside the actors studio"), Karl Lagerfeld talks about his interest in languages. In addition to his native German, he speaks French, English, Italian and to a lesser degree, Swedish and Danish. He claims not to speak any language "correctly" and that he has a foreign accent in all of his languages(he says his German is very "exotic")

A lot of models, too, learn English in addition to their native languages, since so much of the international modeling circuit is tied to the US.
