I have an African Grey Parrot that I'm teaching to speak several languages. Currently, she can say hello in the following 16 languages:
Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Finnish, French, German, Hawaiian, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili.
She can also count 1-3 in English, German, Japanese, and Spanish.
Here is a link to her video.

So do you teach your parrot the most common languages spoken among humans, or among other parrots? (That might explain the Hawaiian, come to think of it.)

Captain Haddock
We taught her "aloha" because most English speakers know it. Basically we throw a whole bunch of words at her and just see what sticks. Some words she picks up quickly, while others seem to take forever. In a way, she chooses what languages she speaks based on her own personal likes and dislikes.

Very nice... she says them quite clearly too.
So she can say hello to almost anyone that comes to visit, but the problem is whether she will know what language to use.
EDIT: apparently it's a "she"

236factorial,
If you say hello to her, she will often respond back with hello. If you have a treat, she will almost always respond. We are teaching her to respond back in other languages, as well as responding to the language name. For example, telling her "count in Spanish" would result in her saying "uno, dos, tres."
