I'm sure many of you have read the excellent Loom of language by Frederik Bodmer. Does anyone have any more information about this man. I mean, how many languages did he speak? I assume he is dead by now as the book was first printed in the 1940s. Any information would be most welcome.

I believe he was a Swiss but the people at the Bibliotheca Bodmeriana in Geneva seem to see not relation to the Bodmer who founded their museum. I am sure he is quite dead by now though.
