Is there a significant difference between "ça ne fait rien" versus "cela ne fait rien" to mean "It does not matter" in French?

"Ça" is a colloquial contraction of "cela", but both mean the same.

Yeah, I would not write ça in an essay. Cela is the proper way to write ça, but ça is
colloquial. I might write a text with ça though ;)
