Destinos helped me go from just knowing the grammar to understanding TV shows and movies. I
highly recommend
it. And don't forget to turn on the Spanish subtitles. Watching the episodes with Spanish subtitles helps a lot. This is

Its £310 for the series, is that correct?

Another vote for Destinos!
While you can buy all of the supplementary material, the episodes are all available for free online. I just watched
the shows - all 52 cheesy episodes. It helped me enormously!

I also highly recommend the Notes in Spanish podcasts:

There are lots of free Spanish resources available online. I link to several of them on my blog:

Thanks everyone,
Especially thank you for all the links, I've bookmarked them all on my laptop
Whats a good non-touristy part of of Spain? My mum and I are looking for places to go but we both prefer non-
touristy destinations. Ideally somewhere where I am forced to use the language instead of a very touristy English
speaking part of Spain.
Thanks!

Me too! Both of these are of great help. And I used only the free parts of both and found that it was sufficient.

Most of Spain actually, just avoid the typical tourist destinations along the coast crowded with people from Northern
Europe on package tours.

Great for learning to read/translate Spanish. It's also fun, so it makes you want to continue. You can also get an app version on iPhone or Android.

I've heard Spain to be like that. I've noticed that that when I go to a foreign country the people I meet are good at
conversing about their business (in English). E.g if they run a café, then can discuss prices and products on offer.
However, when the conversation diverts they have limited conversational vocabulary. I also heard that many
Spaniards whom are in their 30's, 40's, 50+ will not have a good command of English. Are there any places that
anyone recommends in Spain that's not swamped with English speaking tourists.
Thanks!
P.S also thanks for the all the recommendations. I have duo lingo already downloaded on my phone as I dabble in
different languages like German and French.
