... with Swedish! or a language the seemed to be Swedish :D
I was in the super market when a language that my ears recognized as Swedish was talked
by a couple. Was charming as hell and so melodic...
Did the same happen to you, to hear a language so amazingly beautiful in a just random
moment to mesmerize you?

Or actually Flemish. In the announcements on the Köln-Paris train.

Kind of, but I wasn't mesmerised by the pure sound of the language so much as caught up in the collective regional spirit and romanticism. I watched this video immediately followed by this video and I was hooked. The latter is still one of my favourite songs of all time.

If non-"love at first sight" moments count, my heart does skip a beat when I hear someone speaking with exaggerated Christopher Walken vowels, like this gentleman who speaks the dialect of my village.

LOLLL! is it the same language that I know? :P
Would it be the same if you heard the Haagse accent instead of the Flemish? :)
I like the written form of Dutch but the spoken form is processed by my ears as a mix
between works in progress and a throat disease (without any offense for the language and
the speakers! I'm the problem!) :)

But to be fair in really little occasions I heard someone speaking a charming Dutch. I
think how are pronounced 'g', 'ch' and 'ijk' makes a huge difference.

ehm, dear moderators,
this post wasn't specific for swedish. why did you move this thread in 'specific
languages'? It was a general topic. I reported an experience that I had with Swedish but
someone else had with Dutch, Breton or... well? Italian, German, ?

Can you please put it back on 'General Discussion'? Here (and specially with the title
changed) has much less visibility. It is not how I intended this thread.
Thank you in advance.

You can rename the thread yourself by editing the first post :)
Fortunately it's not THAT invisible because most people use Active topics, I think.

Now I both want to learn Breton and dust off French.
That's the problem with good music in any language.
