I speak Spanish fluently and it's native to me (spoke it before English actually) but
as I don't use it very often I feel very rusty in it. I'm concerned about mixing it up
with Italian which I'm actually studying though.
It occurred to me that I should do the version of Assimil Italian for Spanish
speakers: "El Nuevo Italiano Sin Esfuerzo". I would be "killing two birds with one
stone" and I think it would actually help me keep them apart as I would be comparing
their difference directly. This is how I studied French.
I'm wondering if anyone on here has done this and whether it confuses things or not.
Also, has anyone ever had any issues ordering directly from Assimil?
For anyone else in the USA thats interested:
I couldn't seem to find the book+CDs set reasonably priced locally and ordering from
Assimil with shipping came out to something like almost 90 Euros which is over $100.
I was able to get the set (book+CDs) for $32 from Amazon and you can buy the book in
Spanish from Assimil for 26.40 Euros which is about $34. So thats the CDs +
Italian/English + Italian/Spanish text for $66
Thanks

I've not tackled Spanish via French (or Italian), but I am learning Russian via German, using Assimil's Russisch ohne Mühe. I've found that it does indeed help my German, and I've not had any issues of getting the languages confused. To be fair, however, I think it's rather clear that German and Russian don't share *that* many similarities, so learning Italian via Spanish may prove to be more difficult. Certainly not impossible, though, so best of luck.
