I think this non verbal constructions that replace "to have" as a verb of possession are quite common. Russian, Japanese and Hebrew already have been given as examples but similar constructions are also used in Finnish, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi and a lot of more languages. The topic is making me curious, on a rainy day I will make a list of all the languages that behave like that consulting my collection of grammar books :)
