I don't think that there's a rule against having as many logs as you have target languages but I think that the log's creator has rather low limits. I've found that most people can't keep more than three logs since it becomes a bit of a pain to sort things out and assign them to logs corresponding to just one language or even a genetic subgroup (if someone is studying languages in that way).

The most important aspect of a log is that it be updated regularly with interesting content. Iversen's log is damned popular despite it being so long and an accumulation of whatever he's felt is worthy of mention.

I prefer to read one log per person, even though the long ones can be pain to catch up.
For myself, I keep one log but I end it and start a new one after some time. One log per
language might be interesting and motivating to study all of them intensively to keep all
the logs interesting.

I find creating a new log each year to be good, especially since it ties in with the TAC
and I can set my goals at the start, assess them at the end, then have a fresh start for
the next. I'd find several on the go at once a pain for maintenance and following.

I have one log per language, although I don't update all of them regularly. (It might have something to do with the fact that I'm not studying all of them actively...)

It depends.

I originally started out with Spanish, and had bouts of wanderlust with French, German, Latin, and Esperanto. I have 6 logs altogether: dedicated Spanish, German, Latin and Esperanto logs, a multilingual log (which I originally designated French) and a Spanish Super Challenge log.

Like I said, I originally had a Spanish log, then created a German and Esperanto log when wanderlust struck, and even tried to study the 3 languages actively for a few weeks. Then the wanderlust voucher came about in late April, so I kept track of Latin for a short time.

It gets annoying keeping track of multiple languages over time, especially if you update at the same time. I like the idea of keeping a log for a year and then closing it to start another one, although you'd probably accumulate many logs over a long period of time.

One word of advice: once you create a log for a language, never delete the language from your profile. The log will no longer be listed under the log section of your profile if you do. I learned this the hard way when I thought I had enough of Esperanto.

I noticed in your Mandarin log that there was 1-2 updates per year for the last few years!

Yeah, most of my logs are like that. I didn't want to write every time I finished a lesson, but at least a summary at the end of the year. :) I post more regularly now since I'm part of the Super Challenge.
