I'm intimidated by all the Italian 's' words, like 'sviluppare'. They look so un-Latin and therefore exotic to me. I know 's' is from 'ex' or 'dis' of Latin but sometimes it's just so hard to guess and locate the accurate meaning. I have a good guessing for Italian except for 's-' words. Any suggestions from fluent speakers??? Thanks!!!

Great topic! I actually love these strange looking Italian words, they are so Italian. It's nice that each Romance language has a few groups of 'typical' words. If you have trouble with them I would start making a list of all the 's' words you encounter. By looking at the list your brain should be able to make some inferences that would help you figure out the meaning of similar words in the future.
