I will be studying in Turkey from August 2010 - May 2011. I want to learn as much Turkish
as I can beforehand, so I can achieve some level of fluency upon leaving the country.
What resources do you find to be best for learning this language? The only resource I
know as of now is Teach Yourself Turkish, which I will soon start. I am primarily looking
for books and audio materials.

Try using the search function, really easy to use. Type in "Turkish" and off you are. To narrow it down to more useful and clear results you can always select "search on titles only" or limit it to certain sub-forums, like "Links and resources":
http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=13850&KW=turkish
http://www.onlineturkish.com/
http://www.seslisozluk.com/
http://totally-turkish.com/
http://www.turkishclass.com/
http://www.turkishdictionary.net/
http://www.turkishlanguage.co.uk/

I also like this one for sentence mining:

For series:
http://fulldizi.com/
http://www.diziizle.net/
FSI Turkish course (also great to sentence mining):

Thanks for the links. And with all due respect, I do, and did use the search function,
and thus found the thread with a bunch of links for learning Turkish. I guess in my
post, I forgot to include the fact that I was looking for books and audio materials,
primarily. My mistake.

I'd love to have the audio materials as well!

PAL FM is the only turkish internet radio I've got to consistently work...
www.sabah.com.tr is a Turkish news site that also has a limited number of English stories.

Teach Yourself Turkish is a pretty good course to get started. The Assimil course is very good too (I don't know if there is an English version). But in any case, I'd recommend working through the whole TYT before using other materials, especially if you're completely new to the language. Turkish grammar is quite exotic, so it's better not to get confused in the beginning.
PS: "Türkisch für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene" by Ersen-Rasch is also a very useful textbook if you know German.
