Im very new to this forum but im wondering why i dont see any indigenous languages of
Mexico on the list of languages. Im told that many people in Mexico still speak Mayan,
Mixtec and Nahuatl. Am i missing the threads somehow, im not getting the search thing to
work well.

Bi xchih 'awo'tan (hi)

There are thousands of languages you don't see in the list of languages but "Mayan", Tzeltal, Tzotzil, Nahuatl are in the tags.

And don't forget Ayapaneco

A frustrating situation for linguists who are trying to study the language when
the only two remaining native speakers of the language hate each other and refuse to talk!
Last two speakers of dying language not on speaking terms

That is Tzeltal, I learned about a dozen phrases in Chiapas, a few more of Huichol and I had a small Nahautl vocabulary from my maid as a child. Most Mexicans know at least some Nahuatl from name places like Iztaccíhuatl, a volcano (white, woman), Chapultepec (grasshopper hill) and loan words used in Mexican Spanish like cacahuate (peanuts). In English and other languages avocado, tomato, chocolate, guacamole, nagual, pulque, peyote, ocelot, axolotl and chile are other loan words borrowed from Nahuatl.

I don't have those languages in my list (and a few others) because I don't speak them and I'm not studying them at all now. - I could at best say hello and say a few phrases like "The fried crickets are good" and "I'm thirsty". My Italian and Portugues are way better but I'm barely studying them. I'll only place languages that I find I have some level of mastery or at least 20-40 hours in the last year.

Mayan is not a single language but actually a family of languages spoken in Southern Mexico and throughout parts of Central America.

spoken by a merchant and translated into Spanish by her granddaughter. Id like to see

I can certainly appreciate that. I've always had a huge soft spot in my heart for "minority" languages since I think they can be among the most interesting languages in the world. I try to learn them, or at least collect resources for them when I can.
