Mayan is not a single language but actually a family of languages
spoken in Southern Mexico and throughout parts of Central America.

im aware that there are several dialects, i have only heard one while in Chiapas Mexico
spoken by a merchant and translated into Spanish by her granddaughter. Id like to see
more on this forum about the languages.

There are about 60 recognized different languages in Mexico with about 290 cataloged languages and dialects.

I haven't seen too many people interested in Mayan languages here, or most anywhere for that matter. While the Yucatec I learned living in rural Yucatan isn't good enough to really help anyone, I'd be more than happy to trade sources with anyone interested.

What kind of sources do you have?

I've always been fascinated by these languages. While living in Mexico I picked up some very basic grammar books for Yucatec Mayan and for another language called Totonaco. Unfortunately I can't trade these because they aren't digital, but I tried to collect what I could since I didn't know if and when I'd ever find any resources for the languages again.

I tried to undertake similar tasks while living in Peru.

Maya für Yucatán: Wort für Wort is a pretty good combination phrasebook/grammar for Yucatec Mayan. It's structured pretty well and doesn't really dumb down the grammar too much, but isn't too complex to be a quick reference, unlike "A Grammar of the Yucatecan Mayan Language" by Bolles. I have a digital copy of Bolles but not of Maya für Yucatán, but I could scan it as soon as I'm done moving. I also know of some software which is a decent vocab trainer called "Curso Básico de Lengua Maya" (de la Secretaría de Educación del Estado de Yucatan), which you can download on the internet, and this online course here http://www.mayas.uady.mx/curso_maya/index_01.html .   This site also has some audio materials, including something resembling a course http://dma.uchicago.edu/db/#?view=collection&idType=language ID&id=7413

My apologies if none of this is new or interesting, but I'll let you know if I remember anything else I've found useful.
