I recommend taking a look at Speaking Latino.com which has lists of resources for Spanish slang / idioms listed by country. I just recently bought their publication Speaking Chileno a fantastic resource which even includes Chilean gestures. I will definitely be buying "Speaking Argentino" in the near future. They also have a couple of books for Puerto Rico, and offer "quick guides" as PDF's for the Spanish of various other countries.
This page from the same site lists over 50 Spanish slang books. I also have Chilenismos: Dictionary and Phrasebookwhich does exactly what it says on the tin,and is well worth having. I would absolutely kill for copies of "Surviving in the Chilean Jungle 1 and 2" but cant find copies anywhere. I have also heard good thing about "che boludo" which is supposed to be the book of Argentine phrases and gestures. Great resource, Dbag. thanks. that speaking latino site has a ton of good stuff. I prefer Dominican and Puerto Rican Spanish and may pick up those books.
