I was going to say exactly the same thing as Medulin. It's the only course i've ever used to study Spanish (apart from experimenting with Pimsleur and Michel Thomas, which won't take you very far at all). I supplemented it with Routledge's 5000 frequency dictionary. When i finished the course i wasn't sure if i would be able to speak it or not, i still felt unsure, then i suddenly realized i could read Spanish newspapers and books with little problem. A month or two later when i went to Spain, after an awkward day or two of finding my tongue, i had no trouble talking or understanding what others said to me.
I think Platiquemos is one of the best courses ever written and will not only teach you how to read and understand a language but also how to use it and speak it correctly. It's a lot of work (i did 3-4 hours a day for about 8 months) but if you can put the effort in, it's totally worth it. It's my favorite course. 1 person has voted this message useful |
