Or rather, which of the following introductory courses should I take for it.
http://icelandiconline.is/
http://books.google.com/books/about/Colloquial_Icelandic.htm l?id=MD7m_cV6KrIC
The online course with the Iceland domain is free, whereas Colloquial Icelandic will cost money. Naturally, I'm inclined to choose the former, but time is more important than saving a few dollars. Which would you recommend?

I wouldn't recommend Colloquial Icelandic as a beginner course. Although it is pretty comprehensive in terms of
grammar, I find it can be very confusing at times. Icelandic online is pretty good, but it can sometimes be a bit hard
to follow for people who have no prior knowledge of Icelandic. It also teaches grammar indirectly, whereas I prefer
being able to consult grammar charts and to read a few grammar explanations. My favorite Icelandic introductory
course is actually Hippocrene's Beginner's Icelandic - it is not overwhelming, presents the language very clearly and
is much cheaper than the Colloquial method.

I liked Colloquial Icelandic but, yes, I'm a grammar nerd. I haven't tried the online course though.
