Harmony of Babel: Profiles of Famous Polyglots of Europe, a unique book by Kato Lomb, has just been
published. The full book is available for download (PDF) from tesl-ej.org. The printed book is available from Lulu
[dot] com.
This book will introduce you to some of the most accomplished polyglots of the past 300 years (e.g., Mezzofanti,
Csoma, Schliemann, etc.) as well as some 20th century polyglots. The most interesting part of the book is the
interviews with the modern polyglots.
The author, Kato Lomb, was a famous polyglot in her own right: she interpreted and translated 16 languages. Her
excellent book on language learning was published in English in 2008: Polyglot: How I Learn Languages.

Thanks for sharing this, rcusickjr. This is a cool read. I just threw it on my kindle for some light reading. Maybe I'll save it for my trip to India at the end of October.

Thanks for sharing the links, Daristani. Reading these will be a great way to pass the next two hours while I am waiting for my Delhi to Bangkok flight.

Darklight1216: If you have never read Kato Lomb before and are interested in language learning, her other book: How I Learn Languages (linked above) is a fabulous read.
