Jar-Ptitsa reports some minor problems with the character sets which make some letters look funny.

The problems with the characters sets was the symbol which was a lot in JonB’s posts when he put the umlaut.

She proposes a riddle: a fragment of the New Testament of the Bible in a language which is not French or Latin.

The solution to Jar-Ptitsa's riddle: "Platt LOL!!! 'Dat Niee Testament' "

This was a game: you had to guess in which language was the New testament which was a present I had received. The answer was in Platt and I find it funny that it’s this language!!!!!! I will copy the first paragraph:

Dat Evangelium nah Matthäus
Vun den Erlöser, den Gott toseggt hett

Jesus sien Stammboom
2. Abraham is Isaak sien Vadder; Isaak is Jakob sien Vadder. Jakob is de vadder vun Juda un sien Bröder. 3. Juda is de Vaddder vun Phares un Zara, de her Mudder weer Thamar usw…

Citaat Iversen:

"Fasulye would find it too boring to analyse the grammar of a language she hadn't even learnt. Btw. she has visited the European Space center (mentioned by Jar-Ptitsa), some remarks on railticket prices in Germany and in Belgium"

Zitat Iversen:

"Fasulye: is glad that among other ProfArguelles thinks that even old people can learn languages. {EDIT: She has namely known that all the time}"

Der Thread heißt "Advice for OLDER polyglot aspirants".

Ich werde "old" in "older" ändern. Ich werde auch "would like to visit" schreiben (ich möchte es auch irgendwann sehen).

Prima so, Iversen.

--------

My Icelandic definitely needed a brush-up so I have borrowed "Sumarljós og svo kemur nóttin" (Summer light and so comes the night" by Jón Kalman Stefánson at the library. It has 8 short stories without much of a plot, which is good as I am going to read it bit by bit in the bus back home from work every day for the next month. And it is fairly easy, which is good because I can't juggle around with big dictionaries in the bus, and I found that my tiny Langenscheidt didn't contain most of the words I didn't know in Guðmundsson's book in December
