I'm progressing excellently with Hebrew, and will start back up with Pimsleur Russian tonight. I've found a site that has more Israeli television shows than I could possibly watch, and the combination of studying literature, shorashim, speaking with natives, and watching TV and listening to music is working out incredibly well. The only skill I'm not working on right now is writing, but I'll get to that later. I'm aiming to work more seriously on my writing after I acheive a native accent with native fluency, and the ability to speed-read and understand literary and coloquial Hebrew like a native. It will take awhile.

Yeah sure, I'll send you a pm...I don't think we're allowed to post links from sites with questionable legality.

Michael: sent you a pm

So I'm finally putting on those stickers with the Hebrew characters because I've started doing a bit of writing on the Internet. I'd like to memorize the keyboard and improve my typing speed, but I'm not actively working on that right now. I'm having a hard time getting started with Pimsleur Russian 3 again, but I'll get to it soon.

Sorry to interrupt your posts again, but would you mind sending me the link aswell (I have a number myself and am hoping that this is a new one)?
Your log is great, it helps me motivate myself as I study both of these languages aswell :) so thanks for your dedication!

If you're interested, I used this site to memorise the hebrew keyboard - the memorisation was very fast and simple, and your typing speed increases pretty quickly afterwards.

Thanks Timbo, I sent you a pm as well. I'll have a look at the keyboard memorization tool. My Israeli friend is here until tomorrow, so I haven't done a lot of studying, but have been picking up a lot of new vocabulary through context. When my friend leaves tomorrow, I'll start up again with the literature passages.

Now that my Israeli friend has left, my motivation level has skyrocketed and I'm ready to get back to traditional studying. So I've decided to throw down the gauntlet and challenge myself to finish Pimsleur 3 by the 15th of May. Another thing I've decided to do to keep myself honest is to write here daily for the next two weeks and post what I've done. It's only two weeks and I can go back to slacking after that.

I've been trying to visit more Hebrew websites, and one aspect I think is hilarious are some of the advertisements. I was looking up sports scores for a friend and there is a photo ad of a guy with an oversized belly with an inscription that roughly translated means "fatties are icky". I clicked on it out of curiousity and a page opened for some diet plan. Let's just say that Israelis are a lot more direct than Americans. It did make me stop eating the big bag of pretzels in front of me though...thanks, jerks!
