AP stands for Advanced Placement.
In Canada and America high school students can take AP classes, and write the AP exams to get university "credits" while still in high school.
The point is they're supposed to be at a higher level and more challenging than normal high school courses.

I know that this is a zombie thread. I wrote AP French and the C1 DALF around the same time. I had previously
written the B2 exam. In my experience, AP French was definitely below B2 French. I think it would be around B1.
