Thanks magictom123, I think you hit the nail right on the head. Because of my past experience with schooling I just expect I can read through a book and then know everything in it, and it just doesn't work that way with languagues. I'm using Baron's FSI for my base, so I do have one course that I'm working through steadily, but it doesn't seem like enough.

I'm not actually working on German yet. I would like to get to a point where I'm comfortable with my Spanish so that I'm able to start German before 2011 ends, but I'm definitely not going to start German until I have at least 500 hours of intensive Spanish under my belt, maybe longer.

I'm really excited about being part of TAC 2011! My goal is to reach CEFR B1 level by the end of the year. I will be using FSI Basic as my main course, in addition to several Practice Makes Perfect grammar books. I will also be working through a couple of books of Spanish short stories and the Harry Potter books. I am dedicating 9-12 hours per week for active language learning with an additional 9-12 hours of passive exposure. I will also be using Anki for vocabulary building.

Hi Monte_Cristo

I'm also a member of team Ñ of TAC 2011. You obviously renamed your personal language log so that it's now our team log and I may post my goals and achievements here, too, right?

Actually each team member maintains their own personal log, but they should all have the name of the team and "TAC 2011" in the title. However, you're certainly welcome (and strongly encouraged) to follow your teammates' logs and pop in to say hello, share resources or strategies, or help keep up the motivation.

Oh, thanks for explaining, ellasevia. Everything's still a bit confusing for me but I'm sure I'll know everything by December 31 :-).

Thanks for the explanation ellasevia...I thought we had separate logs, but I did get confused for a minute or two!

Hi nuriayasmin! I'm looking forward to seeing your goals and following your progress! Team Ñ is going to rock in 2011!

Oh dear, I really didn't want to cause confusion, I'm really ashamed ;-).

Well Monte_Cristo, I'm happy to be in a team with you and am sure we will achieve a lot in 2011!

Monte Cristo, I am focusing on Spanish right now, too. (Well, and a few others.) I am a big fan of Harry Potter LR, too. It's nice to have something I'm already familiar with, even if it is not "original" Spanish. =)

I'll be following your Spanish team (I'm on the other one) for TAC2011. If you need any help with anything, don't hesitate to ask!
