	I’ve put together a collection of links to language courses that various radios have made available online. Generally this kind of courses are created for the foreign service of a national broadcaster which also provides the necessary funding. Sometimes, these radio courses are available to download as podcasts, but usually they are meant to be broadcast on the radio (often on short waves). What also distinguishes these radio courses from other podcasts (and Quabazaa’s comprehensive list of podcasts is available here) is that the latter tend to be open-ended, with new episodes added regularly, whereas radio courses are usually produced with a predetermined number of episodes in mind (and therefore some courses actually manage to tell a self-contained story). Moreover, unlike publicly funded radio courses, the typical language podcast is usually the result of private enterprise and therefore not available for free in its entirety. If you know of other programmes that fit in the description above and would like to see them mentioned here, just let me know and I will add them to the list. Let me also know if you find mistakes in the post (I’ve tried to check everything, but oversights may happen), so I will be able to correct them. A final note: I’ve listed only the courses in the most common languages (the ones I can use to surf the net), but sometimes a broadcaster may have the same course available also with other languages as L1. If you are interested, I advise you to look around in their websites. Moreover some broadcasters (especially BBC English and BBC Languages, CRI online Radio China International, Deutsche Welle, RFI Radio France Internationale) offer plenty of other language learning materials beyond the listed courses so, again, exploring their website might be very productive. 	Oh, excellent. Does anyone have any recommendations for basic Italian radio language courses? Or, something like news broadcasts in basic Italian, perhaps? 1 person has voted this message useful

	UPDATE Japan’s NHK is now broadcasting a new 50-episode series to replace Japan, My Love. As usual with NHK courses, the new series entitled Japanese Lessons is also available in other languages (L1): if interested, start here. This week they are broadcasting episode 9. Apart from the accompanying textbook in pdf there’s also a section dedicated to learning the syllabaries (hiragana and katakana).
