Vocabulario:
Cadere – to fall
Accadere – to happen
Veleno – poison
Spingersi – push, go, penetrate
Ammaestramente – instruction
Compiere – achieve, accomplish

6WC_German

So, I am participating in 6WC in May, German being my main target (but I would like to work on Italian and Japanese also). My first goal will be acquiring as much vocabulary as I can, it will permit me to read/understand more comfortably in the end of the challenge. I find a book which may be perfect for this goal (it’s in Russian): Pawel Litwinov “3500 deutsche Wörter: Einprägentechnik”. In this book the minimal vocabulary (3500 worlds of German) are organized by well-structured blocks of worlds, grouped by meaning, for example, “Verbs, every day life verbs, to dress: wear, dress, put on etc”, “Verbs, communication verbs, to take: accept, take, get etc”, “Adverbs, abstract adverbs, correspondence: right, correct, exact etc”. I would like to follow the system to study/improve other languages. But once it comes to memorize, I realized that it’s hard to study the worlds without the context, so I go for textbooks to find examples at least for some worlds (choosing brief sentences for simplicity). Let’s see if I’ll progress this way…I also plan to use Anki (it’s the easiest thing I may do during working time).

I start my challenge with “Methode90” textbook. I went through looking for expressions with the verbs I am studying, concerning the speed, following, moving up/down, moving from start to finish, moving in water, existence). For example:
I think, by car, you’ll arrive late//Ich denke, dass du mit dem Wagen zu spat ankommst
But, taking photos, I fall onto the snow//Aber beim Fotografieren bin ich in den Schnee gefallen.

More expressions with these group verbs:

Sie kommt nächsten Montag nach Berlin.
Wie brauchen zwanzig Minuten, um in die Stadt zu fahren.
Hinter dem Haus ist ein Park. Dort kannst du spazieren gehen und joggen.
Er sagt, dass ihr ihn um 18 Uhr an der U-Bahn Kottbusser Tor treffen könnt.
Als die Berliner Mauer fiel, waren alle überraschen.
Was für eine Überraschung, Paul, dir hier zu begegnen.

Continuing with “Methode90”, I study prepositions of places, direction and time:

P. und B. wohnen in Berlin.
Wir fliegen direkt von Berlin nach Rom.
Das Fax ist aus Berlin.
Morgen fahre ich nach Leipzig.
Um vier Uhr habe ich einen Termin.

…and then back to verbs: the verbs of availability, deficiency, increasing/reducing, keeping, position –

Sie haben Zimmer Nummer zwei.
Brauchen wir noch Brot und Käse?
Am fünften Tag habe ich meine Brieftasche verloren.

And now – “everyday life” verbs:

Ich habe keinen Hungern.
Gewöhnlich isst du viel.
Ich koche dir ungarisches Gulasch.
Herr Doktor, seit einem Monat schlafe ich nicht.
Trinken Sie einen Kräutertee.
Mutti, warum zahlen wir Steuern?

I also check in the dictionary the idiomatic expressions (Redewendung) with the verbs:

Am Leben sein (be alive)
Wie ein Pferd arbeiten (work like a horse)
Hungrig wie ein Wolf
Sich nach der neuesten Mode kleiden
En Bett gehen
