Things seem to be picking up a little bit. I got back into my main polish course today with surprising ease! Very
encouraging. Even the recordings seem very easy to understand.
My teacher lent me part of a tv series in polish her mom taped for her. It's the polish adaptation of Ugly Betty
(well, Ugly Betty is itself an adaptation...), called Brzydula. There are no subtitles and I don't understand much but
it's not exactly like it's astronomy, right?. It's pretty easy to figure out. I watched 20 episodes this week (20
minutes each) and it was quite fun. I expect to watch more from it when my teacher lends me more dvds.

Well, I seem to have broken the curse, things feel like they're moving forward again. Sometimes, all you need is a
bit of a change of pace to get things going again. It's to be expected. I've finished lesson 4 of my main book
yesterday and I really believe I'll start and finish lesson 5 before my next class which is friday because lesson 5 is
revision of previous material (precisely past and future tense verbs, accomplished and non accomplished verbs, that
last aspect is still giving me trouble, it doesn't always compute in my brain). That would mean I could actually get
back on track with the schedule I originally set myself (one lesson a week). Maybe I'll catch up the lag I've
accumulated.

Ok so I've been kind of slumping along lately, I apologized to myself. Last night I did have a nice experience
though, my first live chat with a Chinese native! I overheard two women talking at a local shop (they work there)
and asked the cashier what language it was. It was mandarin so I said a few words, it felt nice. Anyway, here's my
log for the last days of october:

26/10
Polski
- Hurra 60 min
普通话 (mandarin)
- 汉字 (characters) 60 min

27/10
Polski
- Drills 30 min
普通话 (mandarin)
- Pimsleur 30 min

28/10
Polski
- Hurra 120 min

29/10
brak! nothing!

30/10
普通话 (mandarin)
- 汉字 (characters) 20 min

31/10
Polski
- Drills 80 min
普通话 (mandarin)
- Pimsleur 20 min

I also calculated my average study time between october 16th and october 31th : 2 hours per day (of both polish
and mandarin). Just for polish, the average is 1h30 per day. My goal is to upgrade that second number to 2h15 a
day for the month of november.

Yeah I know... Actually, it's not exactly the kind of thing I'd like to watch but as a language learner, something like
Brzydula is perfect because everything is dialogal and intrigues, motivations, etc., are very by the numbers. My
teacher loves this show so I kind of make fun of her hehe.

Been watching a lot of polish fiction lately (Brzydula and movies I bought such as Senność, Parę osób mały czas,
Sala samobójstwo, Egoiści). I'm sure it's quite helpful (even though I don't understand all that much).
