Good man yourself! I made some Vietnamese friends whilst living in Germany, really warm and generous people. I'd love to be able to send them a few phrases in their language some time. Which resources did you find useful?

Teango - Wow I've just read your Blog - congratulations on both counts!
I started the way I always start.... it's not scientific but has been proven to work for me.
I studied the alphabet for a couple of days and then started mimic the phrase book
- I edited the Book2 resources and used Audacity software to monitor my wave forms so I was replicating the male voice as closely as possible.
I learned a few dozen extra words to slot into my chunks and from the moment I arrived I just 'went for it'!
I don't mind getting things wrong and the Vietnamese were wonderfully patient with me.
When I get back to the other machine I'll zip up the notes I made and send them if you'd like?

Cheers maydayayday, that'd be great! I've heard that the tones can prove rather tricky in Vietnamese, so I can see wisdom in using Audacity to help with pronunciation here.
