Hello everybody,
Greetings from Berlin! It's cool that there's a forum dedicated to people who don't
look at you in an alienated way if you have to count the languages you know...
I'm not planning to learn any new language, I rather plan to fill the gaps in the ones
I've already studied, but life has confronted me repeatedly with the sudden need to
learn a new weird language:
Well, in school I learnt English, Latin and Spanish, but then:
- my French aunt happened to be the French teacher of an adult education center in the
same city where I worked... J' ai apris un peu de Francais et je ne regrette rien :-)
- without much thinking, I enrolled for Japanese studies 7 years ago. Then it was too
late to go back ;-) それでも、私は今まで一回も漫画を読ん だことがありません。
- When I was exchange student in Japan, I happened to have more Korean friends than
Japanese friends, so Korean 하지만 신문을 읽을수 있는 정도로 잘하더라도, 식당에 일하는 아줌마의 말을
이해못할때도 있어요.
- then I got a Thai-boyfriend, spent beautiful 2 years with him and learnt Thai - but
now I've forgotten everything beyond sawaddee khrap
- but life made me meet a cute indonesian guy and fall in love with him.... why the
hell indonesian? I don't know and I didn't plan to study it, but now after almost 1
year of relationship, I can add Indonesian to my list - Kalo pacarku baca ini,
mungkin dia marah.
So here I am, without any plans to learn any new language, but now definitely with a
lot of experience of weird languages ;-)

Welcome!
I'm also based in Berlin, would love to meet up for a coffee or meal sometime. There are
a bunch of polyglots in Berlin actually.
