Thanks for that suggestion. I listened to a few samples, and just bought his album 3 (or Calog3ro). Good stuff!
EDIT: 2nd listening, and still enjoying it. :)

I've been listening to the music of Brigitte Bardot recently. If you like ultra-retro sounding 60s pop, you'll probably like her. If you can find it, there's a video of her singing multiple songs. It's titled En Chansons. It's a bit of a tough find, but it's out there. And I don't mind looking at her either. When I first saw her in an old movie from the 60s, I was like, "Whoah!" I can see why people were hypnotized by her beauty. John Lennon was smitten by her as a teenager and had a poster of her on his wall. Oh ... and her music is way fun.

About Brigitte Bardot, some people might like to be aware the sorts of things she is associated with, before supporting her by buying her music. She supports the basically fascist Front National party, is hostile toward gay rights, toward immigrants, and has been convicted repeatedly, for inciting racial hatred. Of course, I think her music and films were made long before she became involved with the far-right, and if people wish to enjoy her stuff regardless, that's all well and good, but some may like to know of her inclinations, so they can make an informed choice...
Anyway, Mylène Farmer is quite good.
Amanda Lear, who is my favourite, while more often using English lyrics, has also put out a fair number of songs in French, over the years, as well as a few in Italian, Spanish, and German. She's also written a couple of books in French.

I don't approve of what Brigitte Bardot said about immigrants, but I forgive her for it. I support her in her campaign against animal cruelty. I also think the government of France violated her free speech rights when they sued her and fined her over what she said. What she said may not have been very nice, but she should have every right to say it. The antidote to speech like that is not oppression of speech, but rather more free speech to contradict it. If they don't like what she said, they should have just rebutted her, not prosecuted her.
Turns out the most beautiful woman of the 20th century is a flawed human being. Oh, well. I'm still going to listen to her music and watch her movies. And I'm going to support her in her efforts to stop people from clubbing defenseless animals to death. She's wrong about immigrants and about gays, but she's right about animal rights. And France should seriously consider legalizing free speech.

One of my favourite current French pop singers is Tal. I recommend envole-moi, la sens de la vie and danse.
Plus there's Dania Giò S-il Nous Plaît Link

me a lot.
Thanks in advance :) |

Stromae is a good one for French.
Papaoutai and
Alors en Danse are two of his
most famous ones.
A good way to learn with lyrics is to check out the

Wow, that's a really cool site.
Rather than typing out a bunch of names I put together a short YouTube playlist of French pop music (or music I like).
