This is my first log entry. Hope that this is in the right place.
I've tried to start learning Spanish off and on over the last twenty years. I'm hoping to make a concerted effort this time. I have Pimsleur's Latin American Spanish and the Spanish Demystified textbook.
My goals for this year are:
Finish Pimsleur Spanish 1 CD.
Work through Spanish Demystified textbook.
Watch one telenovela.
Read one "easy" Spanish reader.

You are indeed in the right place!
As you are a relatively new forum member I wanted to welcome you to HTLAL and to the TAC. We’re both in team Lobo, so we’ll share our language journey in 2014.
¡Buena suerte!

Good luck, Tom. There are plenty of people here that offer great advice so feel free to ask for suggestions. I started with Pimsleur and it worked. I also used Madrigal's book early on and really liked it. Destinos was the first "Telenovela" I watched and is designed for people beginning their study of Spanish. You might want to check it out if you find the telenovelas you are watching too difficult.

Like James29, I also liked both Pimsleur and Destinos! They're both great for building confidence early on - and for
building skills without even noticing!

Un nuevo comienzo.
The last couple of days were kind of crazy and I got off track. So, today I spent catching up with my Spanish studies.
Here is what I did:
Reviewed Pimsleur LA Spanish I lessons 1, 2 & 3
"Watered" Memrise flashcards
Started Duolingo exercises
Corrected some posts on Lang-8
Watched an hour of Despierta America
