I couldn't find any mention of this using the search so forgive me if this is old news:
There's an 80's children's programme from BBC Scotland called Dòtaman that was a staple of my and very many other Monolingual Scots waiting for the regular Children's BBC programmes starting in the afternoon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%B2taman Donnie MacLeod and his hats are legendary.
