I've often thought that re-recording the dialogues in an Assimil type format would be great... basically make an Assimil course out of the same material. This way someone could do the course "Assimil-style" first and then (after being familiar with the content and vocab) could do it FSI-style.

Thanks for the kind commentaries. Two remarks:
1. You can use the books not only on an iPad, but also on a Mac, and (if you don't mind the smaller screen)
also on an iPhone or even an iPod touch.
2. I agree regarding the Assimil-style recording suggestion. This is even truer from lesson 13 on, as the
original tapes do not contain anymore the "Dialog for Listening" parts. For the books I have recreated the
"listen" part after lesson 13 by editing the original "Dialog for repeating."
In the same spirit, I am presenting the final "Narrative and Dialog" part without the original question format of
the textbook. This provides a number of supplementary Assimil-type elements.

I am getting positive feedback for the FSI books.
I have added a How to Use page on the
website. These are suggestions and tips how to make the most of these books. Part comes from the original
FSI material, but it is adapted to my presentation of the course.
Again - any feedback is more than welcome.

Absolutely love the format! I've just downloaded a sample from the iBooks store. At the moment, I'm learning
German so I don't need to download the full version. However, I think the way it's laid out is great, it's really
well done.
