Hello.
I'm looking for a manual that explains how to identify and distinguish languages based on script. I'm almost sure a link was published in this forum but my searching skills have been useless.
I recall this manual explained things such as how to tell arabic and persian apart based on their scripts, or what kind of ortographic cues can be used to distinguish among Spanish, french and portuguese (however, it's been a long time since I came across this manual so maybe this weren't the real contents).
I think the document was in pdf format and probably scanned from a old document from a intelligence agency.
I've come across a document that has a similar purpose, but it is limited to European languages:
http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/translation/bookshelf/2009_field_gui de_en.pdf
Any help is appreciated.
