I've been finding this quite interesting. I've always felt that my own hearing skill was rather poor, and this could provide helpful practice.
I'd be interested to hear what scores any other non-mandarinists managed, and whether they consider themselves good or bad hearers.
Apart from my first attempt, when I had to work out which order the tones were in (flat, up, curly up, down) my best score was 48 when really thinking about the tones, playing them several times, echoĆng them in my head, and 38 when I tried to go for my snap instinct. The usual range is 42 - 44.
Also if any mandarinists can say wether these are a good sample of sounds. Some of them I found quite clear, but some I literally had to click on all four buttons. The most common confusion I had was between tones one and four.

I didn't go through the whole drill, but I found the sounds a lot clearer than most speakers' and the drill really easy.

65 of 72, pure instinct, I didn't play a single word more than once. The ones I "mixed up" were tone 2 and 3 (I felt that the "dip" in tone 3 depended a lot on the voice of the speaker).

There is also a two-tone drill on the same site.

I've now done this drill a total of three times (on three different days). I've never studied Mandarin before, but I do consider myself a "good hearer" (I'm a musician, if that makes any difference...). My scores were as follows:
First attempt: 40/72
Second attempt: 63/72
Third attempt: 70/72

68
Every one I missed was a third tone that I thought was a second tone. I think they could make those a little clearer but overall it seems like a good exercise for people learning tones.

I think I'm a decent "hearer," and I got 65 correct. Like others, I had a few issues with tones 2 and 3.
I just gave up on the two-tone drill.
