This is my first post on this site, though I have been reading it for some time and
think that it is an amazing resource. I am currently obsessed with learning Spanish
and am trying to learn as many words as possible. I purchased the program Byki. I
love the program itself, though I am less excited by the word lists that come with the
program. Thus, I have been making my own flashcards. I like to add audio to all of my
flashcards because I think that it helps with my recall. I downloaded the wordsgalore
program, which has over 9,000 Spanish audio files. Unfortunately (and surprisingly)
that just is not enough. I often come across words not in the database (i.e.
despistado=absent minded). Thus, I wonder if there are other free databases of Spanish
audio files on the internet. I would ideally like to find a database that has phrases
as well. I have thought about getting a synthesized voice reader (i.e. natural
reader). I think that would solve all of my problems. Does anybody have any
suggestions?
Thanks.
Chris Phillips

I would suggest forvo.com. It contains a lot of Spanish words, but no phrases.

I use Spanishdict's database. Here's the URL for audio files;
http://a.sdswift.com/audio/fc/es/despistado.mp3
Just replaces the mp3 name with the word you're searching for. For example;
http://a.sdswift.com/audio/fc/es/gato.mp3

Thank you so much for those websites. I am sure that they will be very helpful. I have
used Spanishdict, but did not know how to download the audio.
However, I am still intrigued by synthesized voice readers. I think that it would be
great to be able to create longer phrases. That being said, does anybody have experience
with a good Spanish voice reader?
