I just bought a couple of the B1 ones in a physical bookstore; I haven't used them much yet, but the first page or so seemed nice. I didn't buy them to use as a course, but simply as the most advanced texts I could get corresponding audiobooks for in Catalan.

I honestly think you'd be better off reading native material, though i guess finding audiobooks in Catalan might be a little more difficult. I remember seeing (or hearing about) the first Harry Potter book as an audiobook in Català. Libraries in Barcelona also say they've got (unabridged) audiobooks read by professional voice actors of both classic and contemporary literature (http://bibliotecavirtual.diba.cat/audiollibresmp3). It seems to be a part of AudioMol, browsing through their catalog might give you an idea of what's available. Not much.

Professor A has said that he believes the best Assimil ever made is the Catalan book. I am not sure if that is the current one or if there is an old one.

@Volte, I only have the three booklets for A1 and probably end up buying the other seven through the publisher, which is more expensive, than when I bought the A1 booklets. I have the overall course, but intend to go over it, once I finish the TY Catalan, PONS Catalan and Assimil. I read the bad reviews for Colloquial, so I have no intention doing that. There is a place in Barcelona, which offers free Catalan courses, but only when I intend to stay there for three months. I will let you know when I finally purchase the other seven booklets. There are three A1 booklets, four A2 booklets and three B1 booklets. I can inform you about the contents in the middle of August, as I am currently on vacation for two months. One other resource is Lengua Catalana, but I saw multiple books with that name and did not know how to distinguish what is or is not included in it. Maybe the publishing company can be the deciding factor. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

alang: I only have two of the B1 books (with their audio), not any of the A1 ones, so it sounds like we won't be able to clear up the question of whether the included audio is the same as the previous audio you mentioned or not by comparing our material.

@Volte, The discrepancy I am referring to is not the lecture booklets, but the actual textbooks used to teach people in school. Cds were sold separately with each corresponding level, and now the text comes with one cd. (Likely MP3) I just wanted to know the difference if the two cds for each level is the same audio with the single cd of the new text. The lecture booklets are totally different and are supplemental. Anyway as for the language Basque an introductory course "Learning Basque" It was a textbook for Spanish speakers, but translated to English. Eventually the audio cassette to cd versions came about and was on 4 cds with about 2.25 hours. The author is Xabier Gereno. 1 person has voted this message useful |
