French:
Today I finished watching the second part of Le Lion, la Sorcière et l'Armoire magique.
I was able to follow along easily enough at about 90% comprehension. Some new words
added to anki. I'm still waiting for the Potter books to arrive, in the meantime I'll
watch some more films and do anki reviews.

German: Passive 59, Active 10. The past few lessons (particularly Lektion 57)
have had some tricky grammar points but I'm not too worried about them for the moment.
I usually review the difficult points at the end of the week. And what's with the
vegetable jokes in lesson 58?! Two beans go for a walk, and suddenly one says to the
other "Vorsicht, da ist eine Treppe, -pe, -pe, -pe, -pe...".

Gaelic: Still on chapter 4 of Fo Sgàil A' Swastika, experimenting with L-R.

I also found this article which raises some interesting points on
the validity of minority languages:

Thanks for sharing the article! It's quite interesting.

About the bean joke: I think the "joke" is that the bean is already falling or rolling down the stairs while speaking, hence "Trep, pe, pe, pe, pe...". I don't know why this should be funny, but maybe it's just an example of the famously bad German jokes. ;)

Viel Spaß beim Deutschlernen! Weiter so!

I attended a good friend's wedding at the weekend so I got no formal study done. However,
the bride is a Moroccan who spent ten years in Germany. I managed to speak French with
her family, and chanced some German with her friends. It went down great! I hadn't much
trouble expressing myself in French at all. As for German, I'm told I have a very good
accent. I hadn't the vocab to talk about anything in detail, just mostly pleasantries and
the like, but it felt great all the same!

The Potter books have arrived! I'll curl up with the first tonight and see how it goes.

Well, I'm off to Dublin for the second weekend in a row, this time to pick up my degree!
Expect an update next Monday or Tuesday. Until then, Harry Potter will be accompanying me
on the 4 hour car drive.

Longer than expected since my last update, a very busy week! Nevertheless I've been
chugging away steadily:
French: L'école des Sorciers is almost finished, I'll try and get the rest
read tonight.

German: Assimil Passive lesson 73, active lesson 24. I'm planning to up the ante
for the rest of the month in order to get 2-3 lessons done a day. Hopefully I'll have
finished the book before Christmas!

I've left Gaelic to one side for the moment. I've been doing a lot of work through Irish
lately and it fills my 'quota' for things Celtic quite nicely!

Je suis contente de voir que mes compagnons Romulan continuent à étudier! Est-ce que
ça va bien avec les livres de
Harry Potter?
