Hi. I didn’t manage to complete the May challenge. I did learn 10 constructions, but I only managed to write out a couple of sentences for each of them. It was a good exercise though and I’ll probably end up writing out more to practice later.

@druck a 2 month challenge sounds great!
@crush thank you! I did put them up on Lang-8 and a few people went through them which was a great help. I
think the more corrections the better as I get more of a feel for what's ok to say and what really isn't! Thanks again!

Has the June challenge been decided yet? I kinda fell off the team bandwagon and started getting a little frustrated with Mandarin, trying to find some motivation to continue but i'm not sure if i'll find it or not. :/ Sorry team!

Hi, It's a bit late here, but I did finish the May challenge (see my log) by writing
about 55-60 sentences with 6 Chinese grammar points and 5 Koreans'. I found it an
extremely good exercise and I believe (as said in my log) that I'll continue that
activity from now on. It made me more at ease with the grammar and finally made me more
motivated to learn some grammar again. Thanks Renate!
As for the idea of a 2month challenge, I'm totally up for it! Especially since it's
reading. If all goes well, I'll have gotten in a routine of reading by the end of the
challenge and won't stop after it ends!
@Crush: Things like this happen. Sometimes we need a break so if you find it useful, do
one with Mandarin. But if you're feeling frustrated with something in your studies of
Mandarin, maybe there's a solution! On another note, it seems your Catalan is going
quite good! I loved reading your post about finishing the Assimil. ;) I already have it
and am planning on doing it later.

Thanks yuhakko, i may end up doing just that. It's just a shame because i'm in China now... I think more than a break from Chinese i need a break from my classes, they are so boring...
And i definitely recommend the Assimil course if you decide you want to study Catalan :) Catalan's been my little refresher from Chinese.

Ah right, I had forgotten you were in China. Maybe, just focusing on speaking skills
might be a good idea. It's less "stressful" than working on the characters and would also
give you time for your catalan.
I've actually lived in Catalunya for 5months and since I know Spanish, I got to learn
quite a bit... But that was 3 years ago and now, even though I can understand correctly
when I read, my active skills are non existent. I'll most certainly do the Assimil. Just
gotta find the motivation to go back into it!

Focusing on speaking is probably a good idea. I like learning the characters, especially how to write them, but it takes up a lot of time and right now what i'd really love to be able to do is actually speak to people.
