Thanks very much to everyone who has done so much for this.

I am one of those who have been only sporadic in my reading of (let alone posting on) HTAL.

I'll try and take the opportunity of making a new resolution and new start with ALLF, and contributing more to it.

I've just registered with that forum as "Adam".

(AdamDM, adamdm, AdamDM2 on here - I've had to re-register a couple of times)

I am glad that this forum is back. Btw, if I register in the other forum, can I repost what I posted here in that forum? Just in case one of them gets down.

it was more due to personal
pressures than anything to do with the forum.

Where is the new forum please?

Thanks.

Yes, you can - people have been doing that, especially with their language logs.

Wow, I left HTLAL for the new site thinking it would expire in the near future... 3ish years is much longer than I
expected! It's interesting, I did have trouble signing up on this forum in 2014, but I'm not sure if it is the same
problem that others had while signing up. Anyways, with persistence, I was able to log in and make some posts. It
was very exciting. ^^

But.. a few years after, I learned that we had "moved" to a new forum, but every time I check back, HTLAL is still
here. After learning that HTLAL is going to be running for a few more years, I feel maybe I should move between
both for a while.

I've noticed there's not a ton of activity on the new site. At least, I feel that the transition from this site to the other
is slow, and there aren't that many new users coming into LLF... It seems this forum is doing even worse, but I do
hope that we can at least bring some more attention to LLF, because it seems to be the future of this community. It
seems there are posts everyday in nearly every board on the new site, so it's seemingly more active. Anyway, thanks
for this clarifying post! It's important for all of us language enthusiasts to know about the situation. ^^

I'm not letting go of this forum unless/until it stops working definitely -- for me the most interesting stuff regarding language learning has already been written here, and, if it ever does, it will take ages for LLF to catch up with the wealth of knowledge we have in the archives, so until that changes I'm bound to be more 'active' here than over at LLF.

OTOH I have recently been swamped with personal life problems and a few projects that can never take off --I'm starting to think I am terrible at managing life--, so I am afraid being 'active', forum-wise, means little more than checking from time to time that backups are still being properly made.

Now I don't really know about others, but I'm guessing anyway that activity in a given forum is kind of a stage in life for most people -- so if coincidentally interest or activity from the most prolific posters was somewhat fading away already when we experienced the worst outages, we can only expect the forum or any new incarnation to have a fraction of the activity it once had. As long as the real people who used to actively partake are still reachable through email or any other means, I don't see it as a tragedy, though.

Happy 2017 everyone, btw.
