Okay I have been working through the Assimil Italian with ease.
I take turns at listening, reading and repeating the lessons.
I am currently up to lesson 19.
I am also working with Michel Thomas Italian; I am on CD 6; I use the transcripts;
where
I have the English only text and I have to say the Italian. I also use the MT Italian
Review CDs
I am also listening to Learn In Your Car Italian Level 1
I have been keeping a language log in MS Word where I record what study I do every day
this way I can tell when I am wasting time or skipping days.

One thing I noticed I do with the MT Italian; I increase the playback speed.
I vary the playback speed between 1.4 and 2 times faster
I do this with all audio material I use; I also focus on answering at 1.4 to 2 times
speed. I pay special attention to pronunciation of each word. I drill new words before
I drill them in sentences.
I also like google translate on my phone. I talk in Italian and I find it a good way to
check my pronunciation; hey! if a computer can understand i am on the right track!

I have been reading about the proper way to use Assimil - 1 lesson per day
Well I must be impatient!
I start every session by reading all dialogues from 1 to current, next I listen from 1 to
current. then I shadow and repeat and read from 1 to current.
Sometimes I just keep going past the current, long way past! It is like an exciting
story, I want to read, hear, speak what is happening.
