My computer's too old to run Skyrim, but there are a few older games of the series also
available, and I know for a fact that Morrowind (which is pretty cheap on Steam) has a
fan-made Italian translation out on the net. It doesn't feature the voice-overs that
Skyrim does, but there's a MASSIVE amount of text in the Elder Scrolls games (as the
series is called).
I'm fairly sure that Oblivion (the next newest game to Skyrim) and Skyrim have been
translated by the creators into at least the more major European languages: German,
Italian, Spanish. Steam automatically downloads any available language files for the
games when you change the interface language. |

Actually that's a very good point. I know that both Morrowind and Oblivion have tons of mods out there, which should include some language ones. I haven't messed around with those in different languages so I have no specifics to report, but for older systems or folks on a budget they would be things to explore. I've read that some folks prefer some of the modded versions of Oblivion to Skyrim, in terms of gameplay, as Skyrim's modding community hasn't quite caught up to the older titles yet. Being older titles from the series they should be cheaper and have much lower computer requirements. Audio may be quite a bit less though ... Skyrim has a lot of audio.

I used to be a language learner like you... wait, I still am.
Anyway, I can confirm that this works with Spanish too but there is no Spanish Skyrim -
VoicesExtra.bsa file. Not sure what that actually does just yet.

Yeah, actually Italian seems not to have the VoicesExtra.bsa file either. This file seems to only be about 11 MB though compared to the other one that is over 1GB so I think there might be a small number of npcs out there that may not speak in Italian or Spanish apparently. That file seems to be under 1% the size of the other voice file, so probably not a big deal in general, but a good catch nonetheless.

I think this joke went way over most of this forum members' heads.
I'll try this for Spanish, and report back with results.

This is an awesome idea I never would have considered. My computer can't handle Skyrim, but I'll keep my eye out
for more multilingual games in the future...

I am playing Gothic 3 in English now.
thanks to that my English vocabulary has somewhat expanded.
So I though to myself: what about if this would be available in other languages I am learning now?.
Actually, a lot of people in Poland claim to have learned English by playing computer games!
It's because in older days there were no Polish localizations for games.
My dream would be: you buy game, and this gives you access to free download from the game website of language packs.
putting all the language in a CD would not be possible, due to its size, I think.

Oh no! I can't believe you went there... :P Though that's the first
time I've actually laughed at that reference. HTLAL is pretty much
the last place I expected to see it.
Thanks for the idea, OP. I basically stopped playing Skyrim to focus
on slightly more productive things. But I've been missing it lately.
Perhaps now I can let that big, beautiful time-suck back into my life.
