Hi everyone,
Several years ago when I first got interested in learning Spanish I stumbled across
this forum. I couldn't believe how many great pieces of advice and inspirational
stories people had posted. Since then I've been a devout reader and member, albeit not
a particularly talkative one. Now that I have succeeded in learning Spanish I've
decided I'd like to give back a little and create a website to help others who are
interested in learning Spanish. My website is called
My Best Way To Learn Spanish and it
contains reviews of various resources for learning Spanish and other bits of
information that might be of use to people.
Right now I'm continuing to produce content so I'm wondering if I could get some
feedback for my site. Since my goal is to help people interested in learning Spanish, I
would be really interested to hear what people who are interested in learning Spanish
or who have already learned Spanish have to say. Any and all feedback is appreciated,
whether it has to do with the design of the website or suggestions for content that you
would find useful or interesting. Even if you are not studying Spanish your input is
appreciated.
Thanks
[Note: I edited this post in response to Cavesa's feedback. I didn't mean to rehash
questions that have already been asked.]

Do you want people to give you feedback concerning the site or to make half of the content for you? For all the questions, you only need to dig the forum a bit (the G-search function is more useful than it seems to be at first sight). Or there may be kind souls that will spend the time on rewriting the things many have already writen in their logs or in the discussions.
About the feedback:
The first impression is good but I am unsure what is the point of the site. The design is typical of a blog which is expected to be filled with a lot of personal experience (and a lot of included advice) blog but the content seems to aim for becoming a guide, an encyclopedia without the personal story.
This lack of your personal info is something I miss there. (For start, just a post "about me"). I am always glad to learn from others but I am not often taking advice from someone I know nothing about. Are you a good speaker, an intermediate learner, a teacher or someone from the publishing and bookselling industry? I cannot tell from the blog.
I actually started a similar blog some time ago, especially knowing my experience may be useful to some target audience (perhaps some of the Czech monoglots trying to learn a language), but I put it away for some time. First, I need to cover some gaps in the experience I would like to share, to explore some of the paths more thoroughly. Secondly, I need to know how much am I willing to tell about myself. After all, all the good guides tell us a lot about their creators (Prof. Arguelles, Khatzumoto, the guy from Mezzofanti's Guild, Iversen, Benny). Am I willing to show that much about myself? I think it is a question most bloggers need to deal with at some point, including you.
So, I am not asking you to reveal your adress and credit card pin. But instead of generic ctrl c of the fsi table, I would like to know how long it took YOU to learn Spanish. The post "why learn Spanish" wouldn't be so bad but why don't you share your motivation? How advanced are you? How did you get to that point? What were your personal obstacles?
I think it might be s well nice to work on the way to search posts but it may sort itself out when there is more content and tags linking it together. By the way, are all the posts writen by yourself or are you copying some of them them? Some look like taken from another website. But it might be just my impression. Perhaps that bit of a personal touch would change it.
The choice of books you review. Are those the books you have been using? Were they your main source?
I know a lot of my criticism boils down to lack of personal view in the blog. I realize it may have been your intention but there are already many "objective and impersonal guides" on the internet and it would be hard to compete with them and bring something new. The good ones are huge and made by teams of people, the bad ones aren't too valuable in the ocean (it may be different had you chosen Polish or Swahili), But I think such a guide based on your personal experience might be invaluable and awesome and I would be thrilled to read it.
