We should now end this discussion here, because it's getting off-topic from language learning and it's Iversen's log.

I have only met 'officials' mensa members at arrangements of the open house type, and it seemed to me that they were more than usually interested in games and riddles, but given which strange subjecs I'm interested in they probably behaved less strange than I do.
Let's let that discussion rest.

On a final note, perhaps -- I must confess that I used to be a member of Mensa. No one
has ever called me a snob and none of the members I met ever behaved in a way that I'd
call snobbish, whether in the presence of non-members or in their absence. Mensans live
regular lives, the vast majority of them are married with non-members, and are fully
capable of understanding that membership only reflects one facet of their lives and
personalities, and that it defines neither their worth nor that of others around them.

I have received my membership card to the Esperanto organisation, but not yet the papers I need for the congress (which is my only reason for becoming a member). While I wait I read things from the internet, for instance from the forum of the site lernu.net. Here they have for instance discussed whether Eve or Lilith was the first woman, and they have discussed about lucid dreaming. But they also sometimes touch upon linguistical themes, for exemples in a case where somebody asked whether there are more people who know Latin than Esperanto. I don't know the absolute numbers, but it is clear that most of those who learn Latin never learn to speak it. On the other hand those who learn Esperanto probably also learn to speak it. So it is difficult to make a fair comparison.

ESP: Iversen, cxu vi volas mendi hotelon aux ekskursojn?
- vian kongresnumeron
- vian UEA-kodon
- vian retadreson
Mi scias pri tio, cxar mi hodiaux mendis mian hotelon.
