Iversen, I have just removed two posts of mine, which may have been too off-topic. I found it also important to give Jar-Ptitsa the hint, that this log here is a very public place with an amount of readers which will reach 100.000 and go far beyond, as far as you feel inspired to continue your log.

Fasulye-Babylonia

Aw'right... prepare for a wee bit of Scots

Ah'd hae a guid time in the company o the Scots spaekers at Youtube,
fir instance the coorse of Niles deLux, part 1
an
The final project' (until I got bored)
an a hail playlist o bonnie Scots clips frae the
'Scots language project'

O coorse ah cannae write in true Scots, so here are a feow genuine exemplars:

"Walcome tae the Scottish Pairlament wabsite The Scottish Pairlament is here for tae represent aw Scotlan’s folk.We want tae mak siccar that as mony folk as possible can finn oot aboot the Scottish Pairlament. Information anent whit we can dae tae help ye engaige wi the Pairlament gin ye arenae fluent in English can be haen at "Langage assistance providit by the Scottish Pairlament (28.5KB pdf)". Contactin the Scottish Pairlament: Gin ye hae a quaistion anent the Scottish Pairlament or the Memmers o the Scottish Pairlament (MSPs), ye can contact the Public Speirins Service in ony leid by post, email or fax.

This is truly official Scots, provided bi the Scottish Pairlament wabsite. Unfortunately there is nae much muore of Scots at that wabsaite - ah hae hoped that it would be haelly tringual in English, Scots and Gaelich, but noo ...

There is much muore ti read o the Scots Wikipedia, that even hae its ain official spellin policee:

"We ettle tae follae the wey set oot bi the Report an Recommends o the Scots Spellin Comatee, itherwise kent as the RRSSC. (...)"
but.. "Nane o us wis taucht Scots spellin, sae we canna be expeckit ti get it richt. We shuid tak text spelt onywey athoot compleenin or rushin ti fix it richt awa. Houaniver awbody shuid mynd that we aim ti correct spellins ti the RRSSC standard suiner or later."
"If aw ye dae is tak an English text an chynge the spellins an swap a puckle wirds it'll juist be Scotched English an no Scots."

(Ah pledge guilte)

Here ye (almost) will can hear Robert Burns himself read his "Auld lang syne"

Here is a guid soorce fir Scots grammar: http://www.scots-online.org

An mair grammar: http://www.scotsdictionaries.org.uk

Ah hope that my feeble ramblins hannae been wholly aff the gleg, and that no speaker o the Scots leid hae been offended. There will nae be a translation into English, - this IS English!

SCOTTISH

EN: What an idea to dig out Scottish! I have never seen, heard or read this dialect anywhere. I don't read this so easily. So you have also got a "Kauderwelsch" book about Scottish. Interesting for me the link to the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish Parliament has also an info page in Gaelic, you have to look on the left side under "Gaidlig". Gaelic is really totally ununderstandable to foreigners. I've been to a lecture about Gaelic of the "English Speaker's Circle" and they differentiate between Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic.

hahahaha!!! "You aren't fluent in English" but nevertheless can read this funny dialect, which is like English with a funny orthography? I like this Scottish Pairlament :-) It's much more interestign as those boring ones in the most of country.

As I wrote, this was all I could find in Scots on the homepage of the Scottish Parliament. There were similar pages for a host of other languages including Scottisk Gaelic, but the rest was just ordinary boring English. If you want to read more Scots then go for Wikipedia (sco.wikipedia.org) or Burns.

By the way I forgot to mention one excellent source for spoken Scots of the milder variety, namely the TV series Taggart. I don't watch those series, but my mum does, and she has repeatedly tried to entice me to watch a whole program, but ah cannae stand mair nor twa minutes aan feelin seek.. too much bluidy murther
