How difficult is it to learn the Urdu language? I already have been studying classical
Arabic, so that should help, but even so, how long does it take to learn it?

I've noticed that there aren't that many resources. I have read in some places that
Persian has 30% of an overlap in vocabulary and in other places I have read that there is
a 70 - 80% overlap. Does it help to use Persian resources or is it better to just stick
to Urdu/Hindi resources?

If you just want to learn Urdu, just stick with Urdu ressources. To get busy with Persian ressources will just cause confusion to you.

Thanks. I have recently read something similar that says if one only wants to study Urdu, then it is better to stick to Urdu and Hindi materials.

Urdu is one of those freebie languages. By studying Urdu you will also get spoken hindi
just keep in mind there will be some vocabulary differences.
