This is my language-learning journal. I'll write exclusively in English. Comments and advice are welcome. :)
If you find a mistake in something I wrote, feel free to point it out.

DAY 1:
I reviewed 13 vocabulary flash cards that I made a couple of days ago. I got 13/13 right away so I'm very happy!
I watched 3 episodes of White Collar (with English subtitles) and I also started watching the 4th episode. There were some words that I didn't understand so I might watch the episodes again with French subtitles. I'll also make a couple of flash cards tomorrow if I have time.
Total:
4 hours of listening (White Collar+ iPod)
13 words reviewed
3 books about translation borrowed at the library

GOALS for DAY 2:
Watch 3 episodes of White Collar
Make 10 flash cards with lines from White Collar
Do a translation (one taken from a book I borrowed)
Learn the name of at least 20 trees in French/English

DAY 2:
I watched one episode of White Collar and also listened to another episode twice while learning my vocabulary.
Before that, I listened to/watched NCIS for 1 hour. (that's 3 hours total).
I did a "thème oral" on another forum (and made a lot of mistakes!).
I learned that I have to say to disguise oneself AS.

I spent around 3 hours making flash cards to learn trees, and also copying these words in a spiral notebook.
I then learned around 90 words that are either names of trees or words that can be used with trees (such as rustle).
Learning the words took me 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I spent over 7 hours studying English today, but I wish I could have done more!

DAY 3 GOALS:
Review all the vocabulary. Do a translation. Watch one episode of White Collar.

DAY 3 (so far)
I looked for new US TV shows to watch and reviewed all my "trees" vocabulary. My retention rate is close to 100% right now so I'm thrilled!

I also completed my vocabulary list with synonyms, plurals and phonetics.
I now have all my vocabulary in mp3 format (but only the English words, not the entire list).
EDIT: I have added over 25 words to my now HUGE tree vocabulary list.
I'll make more flash cards and then I'm done with leaves, roots, branches and trees in general for a long time!
I did want to add more tree-related words to the list but I would like to learn other stuff too.

A member of my family went to the supermarket and bought me three spiral notebooks. One of them is very small. That's great because it'll be easy for me to carry this mini notebook around!

Welcome to the forum, Melya68, and good luck with learning English! Just out of curiosity, why are you
learning all the tree names? Do you like trees or are you just picking different categories to learn words from?

I quite like trees but that's not why I'm studying their names. I have to know a lot of vocabulary if I want to pass a very selective examination to become an English teacher.

Right now, I'm studying all the vocabulary of domestic animals. I've copied down over 30 words so far and I've also done matching flash cards for these words.
I'm halfway through looking up the pronunciation of these words and grabbing the mp3s for them.

I'm pretty tired right now as I stayed up late yesterday to review my words so I'll probably finish looking up pronunciations in the evening.

It's 1.30 a.m.--I really need to go to sleep. I've finished making flash cards and looking up the pronunciations of my new words.
I listened to Effortless English podcast for 1 hour 30 minutes and watched the beginning of a movie (35 minutes).
Total: 2 hours 05 min

I also reviewed the new words (domestic animals).

DAY 4 GOAL:
Watch any episode of any US TV show
(one episode at least)
Add 40 new words to my list
Review and listen to all of the old words

Hi Melya68,
It's a wonderful goal that you've set for yourself. A tall order, no doubt, but that's what makes it interesting.
I shall follow your log with great interest.
Might I offer a tiny piece of advice? If I were you, I would add some reading to my daily regimen. Reading TL literature really improved my listening comprehension.
Bonne chance!
