There are three things I love more than anything ：my girlfriend, my bicycle and
foreign languages. Since I just broke up, that leaves a lot of time for the last two :) My 8 week challenge will consist in three things : 1. Seriously study Spanish (currently absolute beginner). I hope to make serious progress in this beautiful language. As I have no Spanish-speaking friends for the moment, my focus will be on written and listening comprehension. 2. Keep making progress in Mandarin (currently somewhere around B2). I have been reading entire books in Mandarin for a while now, so reading is my strong point. My listening comprehension has also improved quite a lot since last year, to the point where I can actually enjoy watching TV, but my speaking abilities still lack behind. 3. Cycling as much as I can. I am preparing a cycling tour of the Qinghai Province during the Chinese national holiday (in exactly 8 weeks), which involves going uphill for most of the journey. Needless to say, I need to be in shape and quit smoking! I am also a part-time journalist and a part-time translator, which together equal to a full time job. In four weeks I also will be starting my PhD in my Chinese university. I do not know if I will achieve my goals, but one thing is sure : I will be busy. I have not yet decided if I will write this log in English or Chinese, 到时候看着办呢 ！ 1 person has voted this message useful |
